Ursula Jordaan
A Creative Voice For Our Times
I am a creative powerhouse, but I'm also a goofball! I love being a wondrous dichotomy of a sonic boom message meeting up with a warm, cozy cup of hot chocolate. While I have a powerful presence and voice in my artistic projects, I let that align with my gentle and fun nature of being empathic, soulful, and thoughtful.
As an honours graduate from both the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology's Film & TV department and the University of Calgary’s Drama program, I write and create content I’m passionate about while showcasing the dynamism of female equality and representation through the magical element of visual storytelling. This passion helps me develop stories and characters that my audience can RESONATE with; to see women represented on stage and screen that are like themselves.
Such current projects include a dark comedy web series entitled, Parlour Tricks, a dramatic stage play titled, The Lie of Eli, based on a true story, and my first YA fiction series called, Children of the Sky.
Most recently my full-length stage play, All That Remains, was a semi-finalist in the ScreenCraft Stage Play Competition; to view click here. This play has also received a Top 10 finish at the Playwrights Guild of Canada Emerging Playwright Awards, as well as a 2nd place finish in the New Works of Merit Playwriting Competition in New York. From Feb 27 - March 1, 2019, All That Remains will have selected scenes presented in a public reading for Urban Stories Theatre Company.
Aside from writing and producing, I am a nature nut! When there is a chance to venture to the mountains and snowshoe or hike with some pals, I’ll take it!
