Ep. 16 - Do we fully get over rape?
This was a fascinating question that was posted on the Facebook page of the Red Table Talk. If you're unfamiliar with this show, please click here to find out more about Jada Pinkett Smith's creation of this impactful show.
I wanted to talk about this question because sexual assault is still prevalent in our world, and how do we honestly get over it? When this person who posed this question to the page, my initial reaction was, "no, you don't," and that saddened and defeated me. Out of thousands of responses, the answers were the same.
Is there no hope? Is there anyone who has completely healed and gotten over rape? I don't have the answer to that; I just know my reaction was similar to everyone else who responded. But I want to offer a little bit of hope in Managing the symptoms of sexual abuse, and so I want to share this book with you.
The Courage To Heal Workbook: A Guide for Women and Men - Survivors of child sexual abuse, by Laura Davis. What I can share about this book is how vital VALIDATION is to someone who survives this kind of abuse. As I've said many times before, validation is critical in creating hope that you are not alone!
I've also created a pdf sheet that showcases links to Rape Crisis Centre's around the world. This link is also in the "Resources" section under The Happy Pill. Please use this resource if you are in such a situation.
